Ladies, designers say that orange is the new black! Clean out that dark colored closet and bring in the spring with some bright orange! You can find orange everywhere in fashion right now, it has taken over the runways and looks smashing in storefronts such as J. Crew and H & M. From lights to darks and everything in between, you can guarantee that everyone will be donning their orange frocks. Tangerine, clementine, habanera, melon, peach, and carrot are just a few of the warm shades of orange this season.  Be sure to glance at your tag and take note of the flavor you’re rocking!

Orange has been popular many times over the years, mainly in the 20s, 60s and 80s. Lucky us, it’s back again!

Though you shouldn’t wear an entire outfit made of orange there are many different ways to accessorize and wear orange. Besides the basic tops and bottoms, it’s important to accessorize with handbags, scarves, jewelry, and makeup.

When wearing shades of orange, a good practice is to use it as an accent to any of the neutrals.  My favorite neutral for an orange bag is white and khaki, although blues and purples can make an orange really pop. Think about the other colors and accessories you pair with your orange and you’ll see how simple it is to go from a day look to a night look. Change into a pair of black jeans and an orange top for the day; grab your heels and throw on a chunky necklace for a night on the town.

So this season brighten up your look with a handbag or accessory in whatever shade of orange you love!

Bold, bold, bold, and more bold! Bold prints seem to be popping up everywhere! Even though it may not be spring just yet it is around the corner and everyone is getting spring fever and debuting their positive patterns. With bright colors and abstract shapes anyone can become a fashion guru.

Our latest taste of the fashion trend concerning our lovely bold patterns has turned out to be layering one pattern on another and accessorizing with shoes, bags and jewelry just as crazy. The more you pattern the more you shine! Take our model on the right, she is heading down the runway in a pink polka dotted skirt, a yellow shirt with a geometric pattern and bright green tights, yet it looks fabulous; and so will you.

This season think about picking up a couple of go to items like a pair of shoes, or a handbag that will go with anything and everything you happen to wear. That way no matter what you’re wearing if it’s a patterned themed outfit or not you’ll always have that pop, not to mention a great look. So don’t be afraid to wear your blue shirt with your orange skirt and carry that pink bag. Big, beautiful and bold is what it’s all about.

But why stop there? Along with your outfit and accessories, think about trying some bright colors elsewhere. Shiny red nails or aqua blue eyeliner can complete a look and make those eyes really pop. You could also think about trying a piece of big jewelry like a collar necklace or some bright colored mismatched bangles.Big Buddah

This season go out there and be as bold as you can be. Draw some attention, turn some heads and be beautiful!

With so many celebrities wearing it these days, it’s hard not to notice this fetching fall trend that has carried over from Spring: Fringe! Just throw it over your shoulder, carry it as a clutch or wear it cross-body. Whether you pair it with a sweet sun dress or a cute blazer, the resulting look will always be effortlessly cool and carefree!

Below are just a few of the fun fringey bags that Just Jane has to offer this season…

The Chic Backpack!

Posted by Vanessa in Misc - (Comments Off)

School may have just started again, but the kids aren’t the only ones who will be rocking backpacks this fall! There is a new trend to look out for; The chic backpack! Although the backpack purse was a hit in the 1990’s, we haven’t seen much of them since then…until now. They slowly began popping up at the beginning of this summer and now with fall trends in full swing, many fashion designers including Prada, Louis Vuitton, Coach and Tumi have a backpack purse in their line and celebrities have been sporting them as well!
For those of you who are still skeptical, just check take a look a look at this rustic looking leather rucksack with its accenting antler closure (Right) and tell me that a backpack can’t look hot!

Fashion aside, what’s not to love about them? They come in all shapes and styles, are spacious and above all, comfortable to carry! While large totes can be hard on the neck and shoulders and tiny bags can often be cute but impractical, a chic backpack can provide the best of both worlds and still allow for hands free movement! The key to keeping your backpack look from looking too outdated is simply to select a bag with a modern shape and material that expresses your individual style.
(Left) A woman in Italy rocks a uniquely-shaped, low hanging backpack in glossy black leather. (Right) Julianne Hough from Dancing With The Stars commutes with her weathered, slouchy rucksack in grey.

If you aren’t quite ready to dump your handbag for a chic backpack or if you’re afraid they’ll go out of style down the road, not to worry! Many designers have come up with a solution: The convertible backpack! There are many bags out there that can switch from a normal handbag to a backpack with just a pull of a strap as well as purses with detachable backpack straps that you can use or remove as you please!

While we will truly miss the Paige backpack by Melie Bianco that we sold out of a few months back, Just Jane Boutique will soon have something equally as adorable and versatile: The Slingpak by Mad Style! This bag will convert from hobo, to sling, to backpack, making it three different style bags in one! It will be available for shipment within the next month, but don’t miss out on your chance to pre-order it in red or black on our website! This backpack/hobo combo won’t last long…

Get Ready to “Fall” in Love!

Posted by Vanessa in Misc - (Comments Off)

I know, I know… it’s still summer, but it’s not too early to start thinking about what you’ll be carrying this fall! With the passing of all the major fashion weeks that the US and Europe have to offer, fall styles have already taken a definite shape, but for those of you who (like so many of us) are out of the loop, here is a little hint of what is going to be big! Based off of what we’ve seen from designers so far, here are some of the up and coming handbag trends that this autumn has to offer!

Animal prints, Snakeskin and Fur Details: That’s right, the more your purse looks like a living thing, the more fashionable you are! Well, maybe not…but either way, animal elements are big this season whether they’re the real deal, or a more vegan friendly alternative. There’s no better way to show your wild side than with a little primitive pizazz in the accessory department! This fall, Just Jane has a ton of great new handbags that fit the bill.

Chain Straps: Let’s face it, chain strap bags are popular this season despite their uncomfortable appearance…but if you don’t have much to carry then you don’t have much to worry about! Regardless, these adorably edgy bags are popping up on celebrities and runways everywhere!

Long Shoulder Straps: Messenger bag or otherwise, slouchy long-strapped bags reminiscent of the 70’s are all the rage this season. This fabulous fall trend gives a chic yet casual overall vibe to any ensemble. However, if the long straps just aren’t your cup of tea, you could try…

NO Straps: “Lady bags” or top handled satchels such as Just Jane’s Daffodil bag by Imoshion, were represented by nearly every designer at New York’s Fashion Week, as were another intriguing trend that is crossing over from summer to fall; Clutches! These glorified wallets go with almost anything, but they especially shine when paired with a sweet feminine frock. Think you have too much to carry to have a clutch? Wrong! Clutches come in all shapes and sizes, from ones the size of a petite wallet, to ones as large as a small purse!

Red: From fire-engine red to rich burgundy wine, every available hue of the color was represented on the runways this year and in a multitude of textures (and often in conjunction with one or more other fall styles as well)! Think: red fur, chain-strap messenger bag! Could there be anything more stylish than THAT?

Metallics: Along with the varying shades of reds, designers are loving the metallic materials as well! Silver, pewter, gold and bronze are being used as more than just buckles and bedazzlements; They are the very fabric of the bag!

Tassels: Last but certainly not least, tassels are getting some love this season as well. From zipper pulls to full on fringe, this boho-chic trend is flapping its way down runways yet again. The best part? It fits in perfectly with the vintage seventies craze that’s been going around in the fashion world. I know I’m excited!

Well, there you have it. You have been sufficiently warned of what great things lie ahead! This fall, Just Jane Boutique is armed with a vast assortment of adorable handbags in the latest styles…and the best part is…you can check them out and even pre-order on our website right now! Enjoy!

The Real Winners at Wimbledon!

Posted by Vanessa in Misc - (Comments Off)

Having just ended, the Wimbledon tennis championship played host to a multitude of interesting new styles on and off the court this year! From Venus Williams’ open-backed one piece jumper to Bethanie Mattek Sands’ white warm-up jacket adorned with tassels and white tennis balls, there was no lack of creativity on the court this season, but the athletes weren’t the only ones dressed to impress! Actresses, singers, models and royals alike have always used Wimbledon as more than just a tennis competition and social event; It has long been a platform in the fashion world as well.

This year, Kirsten Dunst who starred in the 2004 movie Wimbledon, attended as a spectator in a deliciously summery floral frock paired with a black blazer and sunglasses. She met her match in stylist Leith Clark, editor of Lula magazine who was dressed in a very similar ensemble. Further proof that florals are HOT this summer especially when paired with bold, solid-colored accessories!

The ever-lovely Dakota Fanning looked sweet and serene in her lacey tiered dress and oversized blazer in neutral hues. From the looks of it, the blazer was the favorite accessory this year at Wimbledon and Princess Beatrice made a bold statement with hers over an adorable navy dress with a white flamingo pattern. However, it wouldn’t have mattered much what she wore underneath it, as this elegant cream blazer stole the show on day eight!

Beatrice wasn’t the only royal to strut her stuff however. The newest member of the royal family, Kate Middleton (or shall we call her the Duchess of Cambridge now?) looked gorgeous and glowing in a flattering white-ruffled dress while her sister Pippa Middleton looked to be a devilish alter ego in her slender red dress with that adorable Modalu handbag and matching heels.

Kim Sears, tennis player Andy Murray’s girlfriend, looked every bit as sophisticated as any movie star or royal on day four of the championships in a short navy dress with a lace hem on the bottom as well as on the three quarter length sleeves. She matched it with a sophisticted cream Mulberry bag very reminiscent of Just Jane’s Daffodil bag by Imoshion…

Let’s not forget one of this summer’s biggest trends; Anna Wintour and Kim Cattrall both rocked the horizontal stripes at Wimbledon this year, Anna in red, white and navy while Kim paired her stripes with a pair of skinny black pants, and an olive green leather jacket. Just goes to show that just because you’re over 50 doesn’t mean you have to dress like it! Both of these ladies looked super stylish in stripes this year and proved that IS possible to look hot in horizontals!

Join the Gold Rush!

Posted by Vanessa in Misc - (Comments Off)

You’ve heard it on the news; The value of gold is going up! In more ways than you may have thought…Along with the value of gold bullion, the value of gold in the fashion world has skyrocketed! Be it clothing, jewelry or makeup, gold has found its way onto runways worldwide in the form of sequins, gilded leather, mesh, knits, lace, satins, you name it!

A symbol of wealth and royalty, yellow gold has portrayed an image of luxury and sophistication for well… as long as mankind has known it existed! With such a long reign, it is surprising that white gold and platinum ever managed to steal the spotlight! Now however, after a decade of cool metal popularity, yellow gold is popping up in all sorts of places; From fashion magazines to the bodies of movie stars and trendsetters everywhere, gold is here to say; “Hey! I still exist and I’m still worth something!!” In fact, the retail of gold jewelry in the United States has increased by ten percent in the last year alone!

So why, after the long reign of white gold and platinum is gold reclaiming its place in the fashion world? Who knows? Perhaps it’s the downtrodden economy that leaves us searching for some small symbol of wealth and prosperity. Maybe the people at Vogue just got bored with all the silver. Who knows! Either way, the pros of yellow gold are undeniable! It never tarnishes like silver, complements almost any color and
Just Jane loves it!

This month, Just Jane has all sorts of gleaming golden goodies from jewelry, to belts, to handbags! Check them out by clicking on the images or by browsing our online store! www.justjaneboutique.com

“In the outer world gold has always been a symbol for prosperity and wealth. It is also a symbol for spiritual richness. Astrologically gold is the color of the sun, our great benefactor. Alchemically dull lead is transmuted into gleaming gold. A golden glow in the aura indicates enlightenment. A heart of gold is a treasure beyond compare.” –Barbara Bianco

Tickled Pink!

Posted by Vanessa in Misc - (Comments Off)

Good news for all you pink lovers out there! Pink is hot this summer! I’m not talking about the muted pink that we’ve seen a lot of this passing spring: Honeysuckle pink (a vibrant, almost reddish hue) was voted color of the year by Pantone and so far has found its way onto miles of runway and into the wardrobes of pink-lovers everywhere.

“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” declares Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.”

Let’s face it, some runway trends don’t always translate well to everyday attire, but more than models are rocking the honeysuckle this season! Shown below, Elizabeth Hurley dons a body-hugging honeysuckle dress while first lady Michelle Obama looks vibrant but still refined in a two-piece look by Peter Som. Both women make the color the main focus of their ensemble by pairing it with neutral shoes and minimal jewelry.

Thankfully, this summer style is super easy to pull off! Pair your honeysuckle with other bright colors like aqua or muted orange for a bright, bold look OR create contrast by pairing it with more neutral tones like khaki or sand. Better yet, use it to accessorize! This summer, Just Jane Boutique has plenty of purses to fit the bill!

Today’s fashion world is a melting pot of styles reminiscent of decades past. Natural waistlines, bold prints, lacey accents and classic shapes are all back, and they are hotter than ever!
